The one thing I really don't like about the 09 Si sedans is the chrome trim on the trunk. It doesn't go well with the car IMO. It just stands out and I am glad College Hills Honda offers a replacement part for about $60.

This was very easy to do, so here we go!

1) Pop the trunk and on the inside of the trunk top locate the 1 10mm screw and remove it. Keep this bolt handy as you will need it on the new trim piece.

2) Locate the 5 plastic tabs that are keeping the chrome trim in place. They are easily removed with needle nose pliers and gently pushing them out while grasping the chrome piece with your other hand.

3) With the 10mm bolt and the 5 tabs pushed through you can now remove the chrome trim.

4) Push the new color matching trim piece back on being careful with the edges as it is a very tight fit.

Mugen Quick Shift - Lots of Pics!!!

I have been using my Mugen QS for several weeks now and I really enjoy it. I've never used a short shifter before so I can't really compare it, but it doesn't feel much more different than stock.

1) First step is to remove your shift knob. I used a 9/16 wrench to hold onto the nut and then turned the shift knob counter-clockwise till it was off.

2) You will need to remove the center console cover. This can be done by hand by grasping the lower right hand corner and giving a good upward tug. Don't worry about breaking anything.

3) You will need to remove the center console completely. To begin start at the passenger side lower panel. Pull outward on it and it will come out very easily.

4) With the passenger side lower panel removed you will find a pushpin. Use a flat head screw driver to pop the top part off and remove it.

5) Remove the pushpin on the drivers side.

6) You will now move on to the center console compartment. Remove the square foam piece.

7) Remove the two screws with a regular philips head screw driver.

8) The last part keeping the center console in place is the outer screws above the shift assembly. You will only need to remove the outer screws on the far left and right side.

9) Begin removing the center console by lifting from the rear and pulling up and backwards. Make sure you only pull back a few inches because you will need to remove two plugs towards the front passenger side inside the center console. After these are removed you can completely remove the center console

10) Now on to removing the stock shift assembly. On the assembly you will need to remove the 3 12mm bolts.

11) With the 3 12mm bolts removed you are free to lift the shift assembly up and to the right.

12) Remove the metal clips holding on to the shifter. Do not lose these clips! You will need to put them on the Mugen QS.

13) This is by far the toughest part in removing the shift assembly. Some DIY's state you can remove the cables by hand, but after my brother in law and myself trying for a few minutes, we used an adjustable wrench and the cables came right off!

Here's a comparison of the stock shift assembly and the Mugen Quick Shift assmebly. In case you get them mixed up, the stock one has the white X on it and is longer:

14) Install the Mugen Quick Shift and reassemble the center console and you're done!

I was checking yahoo this morning and saw this article. According to Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Suburu WRX is the worst car to insure because it has the highest lost rate among all types of coverage.

By reading the article, does that mean WRX driver's are more reckless than other drivers? The article states, "insurers paid out more to repair WRXs than any other model of car. Insurers paid out more claims to repair cars hit by WRXs than those hit by anything else. WRX owners even claimed more non-crash-related damage than owners of any other car. "

At number 6 on the IIHS list is the Civic Si. It's not a surprise that many of these cars on the list are cars that are typically modified. So I'm curious to see how much everyone else pays a month or every 6 months for their car insurance. List your insurance company, year and model, and how much so we can all compare.
